Mr. Walter Daniel “Danny” Harrison
Thomson, Georgia – Mr. Walter Daniel “Danny” Harrison, age 73, entered into rest on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at his residence. He was the son of Mrs. Annette Poss Thigpen and the late Mr. Walter Franklin Harrison.
A private service will be held with burial to follow in Johnson Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Thomson–McDuffie County, Danny built a quiet but meaningful life rooted in hard work, loyalty, and deep personal interests. He retired as a draftsman from Georgia Iron Works, where his precision and skill were well respected. Though a man of few words, Danny possessed a wealth of knowledge. He enjoyed admiring old cars, and he held a lifelong fascination with World War II history, absorbing anything he could find related to it. Above all, he cherished the close bond he shared with his mother, whom he loved dearly.
Danny is survived by his mother, Annette Poss Thigpen, and stepfather Fulton, of Norwood; two stepbrothers, Lewis Thigpen and wife Jean and Bobby Thigpen and wife Janice, both of Warrenton; stepsister, Vickie Glass of Thomson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries, P.O. Box 329, Palmetto, Georgia 30268, or online at https://www.georgiachildren.org/donate.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Keith and Chase Beggs for the care, kindness, and friendship they shared with Danny over the years.
