Ulyss "Art" Andrews, a U.S. Army Department of Defense retiree, passed away on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia, at his daughter’s residence. He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Andrews; two sons, Bobby Meader of Troy, Alabama and Anthony Andrews of Clayton, Alabama; and his granddaughter, Zoe Andrews of Clayton.
During high school, Art was an active member of the D.O. Club, The Eagle Band, and served as an announcer for radio stations WOZK in Ozark, Alabama, and WIRB in Enterprise. After graduating in 1965, he was accepted by Daytona's top-rated radio station, where he hosted the "Art Andrew Show" until he was called to serve in the Army.
His military career included several assignments in Italy, France, Germany, Vietnam, Aragona, Oklahoma, New Jersey, and Georgia. Primarily serving as a Communications Operator, he received numerous Meritorious Commendations for his service.
Art was a graduate of New York State University and various military schools. He also lectured in Select Defense courses.
A memorial service with military honors and the Patriot Guard will be held at the United States National Cemetery at Fort Mitchell, Alabama on March 3, 2025 @ 1:30pm.
