Tom participated in community plays and musicals, showcasing his talents in singing and acting. He was a voracious reader, enjoying everything from the classics to adventure to crime novels.

Tom is preceded in death by his father, Harold C. Hutto, and mother, M. Catherine Hutto. He is survived by his brother, H. Craig Hutto (Mary Louise) of Powder Springs, Georgia, and his sister, Marshelle A. Coyle (Ed) of Stonington, Connecticut.
