Mrs. Sylvia Faglier McNeely, peacefully entered into rest at her home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Sylvia was a native of Avera, GA and daughter of the late Keelin William Faglier and Mattie Lee Harden Faglier.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Ray F. McNeely and her brother, Richard W. Faglier. She is survived by her son Mikel B. Skinner, Jr. (Caren), of Avera GA, daughter Cindy Greene (Junie) of Jackson SC, son Kelly R. McNeely (Tammie) of Watkinsville GA, son Sam F. McNeely (Donna) of Thomson GA; grandchildren Becky Skinner Peters (Randy), Stephen Skinner (Pamela), Ben Skinner (Amanda), Rob Skinner (Courtney), Rebecca Greene Kerko (Chris), J.C. Greene (Rosalyn), Austin McNeely (Macy), Sarah McNeely, Erin McNeely, Kathryn McNeely, Tyler McNeely (Olivia Carpenter), Maci McNeely; great grandchildren Maggie Mikel Peters, Randi Grace Peters, Brownlee Cate Peters, Adeline Grace Skinner, Emerson Faith Skinner, Weston Skinner, Mary Benton Skinner, Lanier Skinner, Cason Skinner, Ella James Kerko, Molly Ann Kerko, CoraRose Greene, Rush McNeely, Arch McNeely, Theo McNeely; and many nieces and nephews and friends including her dear friend Juanita Scott.
Sylvia held a deep love for her family, church, and friends. She was a devoted reader of her bible each day, a faithful member of Matlock Baptist Church, active in her T.E.L. Sunday School Class, and dedicated to service through the Matlock chapter of Women’s Missionary Union (WMU).
Sylvia maintained an active and independent lifestyle whether dining with the “Lunch Bunch,” gathering with the Matlock Young at Heart group, or socializing at the Jamboree with friends. She had a great sense of humor, loved to travel, and was always up for an adventure. Sylvia possessed a playful spirit, loved to joke, and could often be found playing with her great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
A Memorial Service celebrating Sylvia’s life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 13, at Matlock Baptist Church in Jackson, SC with Reverend Dale Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service.
