Stevie Dwight Wood
Mitchell – Stevie Dwight Wood, age 69, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his home in Mitchell, Georgia.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bud Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 15730 Hopewell Road, Alpharetta, GA 30004.
Born in Fulton County, Georgia, Stevie spent most of his life in Mitchell, where he built a legacy of kindness, faith, and service. He was the son of the late George F. Wood and Flossie Irene Stroup Wood. Stevie was a carpenter by trade and devoted much of his time to Friendship Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon.
Stevie’s love for his church extended beyond its wall, he was known for attending revivals wherever he could, always eager to worship and connect with others. To meet Stevie was to remember him; his warm spirit, infectious smile, and genuine heart left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He truly never met a stranger.
He is survived by his loving sisters: Shirley Wynn of Mitchell, GA; Betty Pittman (Donald) of Austell, GA; and Geneva Dunn (Marvin) of Woodstock, GA; his brother Clyde Wood of Mitchell, GA; and his brother-in-law Eddie A. Dunn.
Stevie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donnie Dunn.
The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home on Friday evening, August 15, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, to honor and remember Stevie’s life.
