Mrs. Ruby Hesson Neil, age 83, of Gibbs Rd. Blairsville passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Neil was born on August 28, 1939, in Jewell, GA., the daughter of the late Arthur Redfern and the late Mildred Adkins Redfern.
Ruby was a devoted Christian and member of Jewell Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, Choir Leader and playing the piano. She was a diehard and devoted NASCAR and GA Bulldog fan. Mrs. Neil was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ruby was preceded in death by her first husband, James (Jack) Hesson in 2007 after being married for over fifty years.
Survivors include her loving husband and best friend of thirteen years, Don Neil of Blairsville, two sons and daughters in laws, Phillip and Pam Hesson of Black Mtn. NC., Art and Darlene Hesson of Cape Coral, FL., one daughter and son in law, Cynthia and Chris Mobley of Augusta, GA., addition family include, Todd and Robin Ivey of Jewell, Russ and Wendy Grey of Jewell, stepdaughter, Aprille Stocker of Blue Ridge, sister in law, Carol Neil of Blairsville, her most loving dog, Holly, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 1:30 pm in the Jewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers if you wish, Ruby request that donations may be made to the Union County Humane Society Mtn. Shelter or to the Jewell Baptist Church in her memory.
