Ronald Abbott Obituary

 

Mr. Ronald Clark Abbott age 91, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Jacquelyn Pilcher Abbott  entered into rest Tuesday evening November 24, 2020 at the Doctors Hospital of Augusta.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 27, 2020 at the Sallie Hill Cemetery with Dr. Brandon Furr and Aaron Talbott officiating.

Mr. Abbott,  a native and lifelong resident of Warren County was the son of the late Lena Johnson Abbott and Walter Vinceson Abbott.  He was a retired local businessman and a member of the First Baptist Church of Warrenton.  In addition, Mr. Abbott was a 1947 graduate of Warren County High School, a 60 year member of Franklin Masonic Lodge # 11 and retired after 20 years of service with the Georgia National Guard.   Mr. & Mrs. Abbott were instrumental in the founding of Briarwood Academy and were avid supporters.

Survivors include his daughter, Jacquelyn Abbott (Dennis) Neal of Thomson, GA; one granddaughter, Heather Neal (Aaron) Talbott of Evans, GA;  two great grandchildren, Miller Lyn Talbott and Beckett James Talbott; a sister in law, Susie Smith Abbott of Warrenton, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon Abbott, Julian (Monk) Abbott, and Ralph Abbott.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Briarwood Academy  4859 Thomson Highway Warrenton, GA 30828 or to the First Baptist Church of Warrenton P.O. Box 512 Warrenton, GA  30828.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 A.M. Friday at the cemetery and again immediately following  the service.

Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, the family request that social distancing and other safety precaution be followed.
