WARRENTON, GA - Mr. Oscar John (O.J.) Kaney, Jr. age 91, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Mary Hogan Kaney of Johnson Street died Saturday October 20, 2012 at his residence.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Johnson Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Hanna officiating.
Mr. Kaney, a native of McDuffie County, GA was the son of the late Oscar J. and Rebie Watson Kaney. He was a retired watch repairman and farmer. A U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of WW II, Mr. Kaney flew 51 combat missions over Southern Europe and the Balkans and was awarded 7 air metals and other decorations for his military service.
Survivors include one son & daughter in law, Joey and Marie Kaney of Warrenton, four grandchildren, Heather Kaney (Roger) Burge, Hogan Kaney, Jennifer (Skip) Gilcrease & Clayton (Missy) Strickland, five great grandchildren, Lawson Burge, Waverly, Kendall & Grant Gilrease, and Jackson Strickland, one sister, Martha Hue Kaney Jones, Orlando, FL, and one sister in law, Betty Jo (Ray) Thornton, McDonough, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the residence, 112 Johnson Street Warrenton, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Johnson Cemetery Fund, C/O Mr. Joe Shurley 642 Shurley Road Warrenton, GA 30828.
