WARRENTON, GA – Mrs. Thena Cummings Garner, age 80, of South Whitehead Street died Tuesday August 20, 2013 at her residence.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Balerma Baptist Church Cemetery, Hancock County, GA with the Revs. Mike Dann and Marty Pinion officiating.
Mrs. Garner a native of Hancock County, GA was the daughter of the late Joe Brown Cummings and Ruby Swint Cummings. A Warrenton resident for 5o years, she was co-owner of Garner's Red & White and a member of the Warrenton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Harper J. (H.J.) Garner, one daugher, Thena Ann Garner, Warrenton, nephews, John (Vickie) Yates, Milledgeville, and Reggie Garner (Laurette) Garner, Warrenton and a special sister in law, Betty Garner, Warthen. Mrs. Garner, was preceded in death by a sister, Effie Yates, and a nephew, Morris Yates.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Balerma Baptist Church Building Fund, C/O Ms. Barbara Brown 19107 Sparta Davisboro Road North, Warthen, GA 31094.
