Mattie Joyce (Cason) May

Warrenton, GA – Mrs. Mattie Joyce Cason May, age 91, beloved wife of Mr. Bennie Lee May for sixty-three years entered into rest Tuesday, September 27, 2022, in Piedmont Hospital of Augusta.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Long Creek Baptist Church with Reverends’ Todd Milligan and Chad Crews officiating.  Burial will follow in the Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mattie was born in Warren County, Georgia on October 6, 1930, to Louie M. Cason, Sr., and Altoona McGahee Cason.  She was a graduate of Warren County  High School and attended G.S.C. W. in Milledgeville.  She worked as a parapro in kindergarten at Mildred E. Freeman Elementary School and retired as Chief Deputy Clerk of the Warren Count y Superior Court after eighteen years of service.  She was a faithful member of Long Creek Baptist Church where she served in various positions.

Mattie was predeceased by her parents, her brother, L.M. Cason, Jr. (Louie), Billy Cason, Robert Cason (Helen), and her sister, Dorothy Cason Story (Pete).  Mattie is survived by her children, Larry May (Kim), Tommy May, Joyce Hall (Charles), and Grandchildren, Charlie Hall, Austin May, Megan May, Taylor May, Erin May and Connor May, her sister-in law, Ann May, her nephews, Chuck Cason and Don Story, and niece, Cindy Cason.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren.

Friends may call at the residence or at Lowe Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Cathy Norris 1317 Baker Road Mitchell, Georgia 30820 in lieu of flowers if so desired.
