Mary Jewell (Dixon) Ellison

Grange Community – Mrs. Mary Jewell Dixon Ellison age 77 wife of the late Mr. James Vernon Ellison, Jr. entered into rest Sunday June 30, 2024, at the residence of her daughter in Gordon, GA.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Dixon Family Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Pendrey officiating.

Mrs. Ellison, a native a lifelong resident of Jefferson County was the daughter of the late Essie Mae Reese Dixon and Howard Wendel Dixon.  She was a graduate of Louisville Academy and a member of the Providence Baptist Church.  In addition, she retired from Walmart as the manager of the sporting goods department. Mrs. Ellison will be remembered for her giving heart and love of people from all walks of life.

Survivors include three daughters, Jewell Lynn Ellison Polk of Social Circle, GA,  Toni Maria Ellison (Pat) Smith of Gordon, GA, Jeanie Faye Ellison (Bobby) Brown of Louisville, GA; one son, James Howard Ellison of Macon, GA; one brother, Richard (Karen) Dixon of Hephzibah, GA; thirteen grandchildren, Demetrius Ellison, Tyler (Tiffany) Ellison, Rasheed Wicker, Yliana Ellison, Ylicia Polk, Yliyah Polk, Jerod Ellison, Christopher Ellison, Devin Ellison, Shawn Jones, Jr. Tyeshia Smith, Aniyah Smith, and Patrick Smith, Jr.  and eleven great - grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ellison was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Dixon.

The family will receive friends following the service.
