Lester Hadden Obituary

Mr. Lester Lee Hadden, age 87, of Gibson, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Bethel Church of Glascock County (formerly Bethel United Methodist Church) with Rev. Steve Lamb and Dr. Don Widener officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Hadden will lie in state for one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

A native of Glascock County, Mr. Lester, was the son of the late Louise Gregory Hadden and Woodrow Hadden. Deeply devoted to his community, he served on the Gibson City Council and volunteered for many years with the Glascock County Fire Department. He was also a former member of Gibson Masonic Lodge #257 and a member of Norwood Baptist Church.

After retiring from Jebco, Inc., he enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop crafting swings and chairs, and he especially loved trips to the mountains and days spent fishing. Lester lived a life defined by steadfast faith, love for his family, and a strong work ethic.

He is survived by two daughters, Angie Hadden (Stanley) Phillips of Gibson and Becky Wood (Paul) Lowe of Warrenton; two sons, Dewayne (Lynn) Wood and John (Joan) Wood, both of Warrenton; two brothers, Charles (Elizabeth) Hadden of Gibson and Jerry Hadden of Dudley; nine grandchildren; Randy Williams, David (Lacey) Williams, Ryan (Amanda) Phillips, Tyler (Breanna) Phillips, Alli Wood (Matt) Smith, Megan Wood (Christopher) Pileggi, Spencer (Amy) Wood, Logan Wood, and Lauren Lowe (John Thomas) Hammond; and thirteen great‑grandchildren; Jason (Jaycee) Williams, Chelsea Williams (David) Schlittenhard, Landen Williams, Dani Rae Williams, Anna Williams, Emma Williams, Amelia Phillips, Adeline Phillips, Jack Phillips, Chalker Phillips, Casen Smith, Cohen Smith, and Maverick Pileggi.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Sheppard Hadden; his second wife, Betty Jo Wood Hadden; and a daughter, Darlene Hadden Williams.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Ryan Phillips, Tyler Phillips, Randy Williams, David Williams, Jason Williams, and Landen Williams.

Friends may call at the residence. The family will receive friends from 6:00–8:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home.
