McDuffie County – Mr. Jimmy Joe Howard, age 65, entered into rest, Friday, July 05, 2024, at Piedmont Augusta. He was the son of Mrs. Dovie Cooper Howard and the Late Arthur Boland Howard.
Jimmy was a native of Augusta- Richmond County, Georgia, but had lived in several places, until calling Thomson home for many years. He was a life-long mechanic. Jimmy worked for Knox-Rivers at an early age, as a mechanic training under Mr. Cecil Wilson. During his time at Knox-Rivers he would work for others on the side making extra money. Jimmy later owned and operated J&S Truck and Equipment Repair in Warrenton. He loved to hunt and fish. It was always said if you wanted it fixed take it to jimmy, if he couldn’t fix it, he could rig it to work. He was always having fun, joking and enjoying life. In his early years he built some of the fastest hotrod trucks and cars around. If you knew jimmy, he was the life of the party and a friend to everyone.
Survivors include is two daughters, Stacy Barker husband Brent of Alabama and Sarah Maxine Howard of Thomson; four sons, Jimmy Joe ”J.J.” Howard and wife Pam of Thomson, Terry Joe Howard wife Brandy of Dearing, Robert “Robbie” Joseph Howard and wife Brooke of Dearing and Jeremy Taylor “J.T.” Rowell; his mother, Dovie Cooper Howard of Thomson; two sisters, Shirley Jean Carnell husband Mike of Raysville and Wanda Reese of Thomson; one brother, Timothy Boland Howard and wife Cheri of Boneville; Grandson Ryan and several other grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. In addition to his father, Mr. Howard was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Rowell and a grandson Damian DeVoe.
Jimmy’s wish was for his body to be donated to science and his remains to be spread at Santee’.
