A Funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the Chapel of Lowe Funeral Home with Pastor Elaine Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Sallie Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
Jerry was a native of Wilkes County but lived in Warrenton and Thomson all his life. He was the son of the late Alvin W. Guy and Izona Beasley Guy. Mr. Guy worked for Georgia Pacific and later retiring from Pollard Lumber Company as a Plainer Mill Operator with over 40 years of service. Jerry was a Baptist by faith, an avid hunter, fisherman and DIE-HARD Georgia Bulldog fan. Jerry was a volunteer fireman with the Warren County Fire Department with over 25 years of service. If you knew Jerry, you knew he was no stranger to having fun and it started at an early age. Stories have been told that Jerry was banned from driving his car to school, so he started driving a lawnmower to school. He told some people his Volkswagen would float so they took it to Johnsons Lake ……. Well, it didn’t float! Named “Goatman”, because he could often be seen riding a wagon pulled by a goat around town. Brandi said one of her fondest memories of her father was when she was four years old, she got to go to the local hardware store in Warrenton with her dad. He got the items he needed, paid for them and left. When he got home and Brandi’s mother asked, “Jerry where is Brandi?” He replied, “well I guess I left her at the hardware store!” Sure enough, he called the hardware store and asked Mrs. Becky, “do you have something up there that belongs to me?” Mrs. Becky replied, “Yes sir, I do she is sitting over here playing on the adding machine.”
