Jean Bowles Obituary

Mrs. Jean Flanders Martin Bowles

Fayetteville, GA - Mrs. Jean Flanders Martin Bowles age 64, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, entered her eternal rest on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Spalding Post Acute.

A celebration of life will be held at the Church at Ponce & Highland in Atlanta, Georgia at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Scruggs Cemetery in Norwood, Georgia.

Mrs. Bowles, a native of Dekalb County, GA, was the daughter of the late Mrs. Myra Flanders Eaton and John Daniel Martin, III and stepfather Jack Lee Eaton. Jean was a 1979 graduate of Druid Hills High School and went on to study nursing at Dekalb Community College. She began her career working as a statewide sales trainer for First Union National Bank. However, her love for home décor inspired her to become the proud owner of a line of award-winning gift shops, including Home Sweet Home Gifts and Collectibles. As her children grew, she found greater fulfillment in dedicating her time to raising her four children.

In her early years, Jean displayed great athleticism by excelling in swimming, diving, cheerleading, and gymnastics. Throughout her life, she had a deep love of music and giving back to others. Her giving heart and love for children was displayed by serving as a mentor and helping others in need. Her greatest joy was during the holidays when most of her time would be spent surrounded by family. During her life, she was a dedicated and active member of Druid Hills Baptist Church and Cannon United Methodist Church. No one could ever doubt that her heart belonged to her Lord.

She is survived by her husband, William Derek Bowles of Fayetteville; two daughters, Kristin Frazier (Randy Moon) of Winder, Georgia and Megan Ryals (Dowlin) of Dacula, Georgia; two sons, John Frazier (Sarah) of Yulee, Florida and A. J. Bowles of Fayetteville, Georgia; two sisters, Mary Lou Stergios (Tom) of Missoula, Montana and Phyllis Martin (Michael Ryan) of Brentwood, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Laurel Walsh, Sophie Frazier, Abbey Frazier, Everest Moon, and Olivia Frazier; nieces, nephews, step-siblings and extended family.
