James “Jim” Gregory Harper
Warrenton – Mr. James “Jim” Gregory Harper, age 65, beloved husband of Mrs. Myra Harper, entered into rest Monday, August 28, 2023.
Mr. Harper was a native of Warren County, Georgia, but after traveling abroad with the military he returned home in 1995. James was the son of the late James Thomas Harper and Martha Jane Dye Harper. He was a 1976 graduate of Warren County High School and Maryland University. Mr. Harper retired September 30, 1995, from the United States Air Force as a Medical Administrator. After retiring, he worked 17 years for JEBCO, Inc as the Purchasing Agent, then recently retired January 31, 2022, from the Veterans Administration in Medical Administration. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Warrenton. During his United States Air Force Career, he achieved the following: Air Force Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 1 device, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with S Devices, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon with device, outstanding Unit Award with 4 devices, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 DESERT SHIELD/STORM/CALM.
In Addition to his parents, Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his son Richard Thomas Harper. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Myra Carnley Harper; two sons, Adam Harper and wife Molly, Greg Harper, and wife Katie; three daughters, Jackie Harper Williamson and husband Blake, Ashley Harper and Ellie Harper; three grandchildren, Arie Jane Beckworth, Rayland Thomas Harper and Sunny Suzanna Harper; brother, Tommy Harper; sister, Beverly H. “Bootsie” Boyer and husband Mike.
A Graveside Service, with military honors, will be held at 4 PM, Sunday, September 3, 2023, in Scruggs Cemetery, Norwood, Georgia with Rev. Randy Carnley officiating.
