WARRENTON, GA – Mrs. Isabel Kitchens Wheeler, age 92, beloved wife of the late Mr. Henry C. “Sonny” Wheeler of Davis Street died Thursday morning March 26, 2015 at University Hospital – Augusta.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Warrenton Cemetery with Rev. Mike Dann officiating.
Mrs. Wheeler a native and lifelong resident of Warren County was the daughter of the late Dr. D. S. and Ellie Smith Kitchens. She was a graduate of Warren County High School and continued her education at Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville where she earned a degree in education. She taught in the public schools in Wrens and Warrenton until she retired. After retirement, she worked part time in the family owned Wheeler True Value Hardware Store.
Isabel loved people, especially her family, her friends, flowers, dogs, & cats.
In 2009 she was named Warren County Citizen of the year, however, one of her greatest joys was volunteering as pianist at Warrenton Heath & Rehab. Center for over 45 years. Mrs. Wheeler was a member of the First Baptist Church of Warrenton.
Survivors include a daughter, Becky Wheeler, two sons, Hal (Pam) Wheeler, Al (Lynn) Wheeler all of Warrenton, four grandchildren, Tracy Chamberlin, Christy Wheeler, Brandi Wheeler (John) Shivers and Reed Wheeler, two great grandchildren, Josh and Andrew Chamberlin.
Pallbearers will be Barry Allen, Reggie Garner, Palmer Hadden, Wayne Hammett, Bobby Thigpen, Bobby Newsome, Billy Wilhoit, and Joe Kimbrough.
If so desired, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Warrenton, 201 Norwood Street Warrenton, GA 30828 or the charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Friday evening March 27, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home.
