Elizabeth "Beth" Houlihan-Bean
Warrenton, Georgia – Mrs. Elizabeth “Beth” Houlihan-Bean, age 73, beloved wife of Mr. Lynn Bean, entered into rest on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Wellstar Augusta.
A visitation to celebrate Beth’s life will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Lowe Funeral Home.
Born in Buffalo, New York, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph Houlihan and Eleanor McTigue Houlihan. A proud graduate of Holy Angels Academy (Class of 1970), Beth continued her education at Geneseo College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and SUNY at Binghamton for her master’s degree in education. She moved to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands for eight years and worked for Island Yachts Charter Company and met Lynn. Beth later made Warrenton her cherished home for many years.
Beth dedicated more than two decades to serving as the Head Librarian of the Warren County Library, where she nurtured a love of reading and learning within the community. She also served faithfully as the Postmaster of the Jewell Post Office. Her commitment to civic life extended to her leadership as past president of the Warrenton Garden Club, and she enjoyed fellowship as a member of the local book club.
Books were Beth’s lifelong passion. Even after retiring, she continued to volunteer at the library, sharing her time, knowledge, and warm spirit with all who walked through its doors. She was known for her kindness, her gentle humor, and her ability to make others feel welcome and valued.
Beth is survived by her devoted husband, Lynn E. Bean of Warrenton; her daughter, Katherine “Katie” Lauren Bean of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; her son, Andrew “Andy” Casey Bean of Albany, New York; her brother, Terrance Michael Houlihan of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Diane Marie Houlihan; and her brother, David Edward Houlihan.
