Obituary

Edith Woody Ray

Norwood – Mrs. Edith Woody Ray, age 92, widow of Mr. Gordon Clemuel Ray, entered into rest Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at her residence.

Mrs. Ray was a native of Newport, Tennessee, but lived in Warren County for many years.  The daughter of the late Mr. Ernest Woody and Evelyn Ball Woody.  She was retired from Deerfield Nursing Home as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).  Edith was a Baptist by faith.  The family said Edith was a strong willed, determined lady.  She loved the color red.  The family said she could often be seen wearing red fingernail polish and lipstick.  She loved her family and friends.  Edith had a big heart for animals, the family said she would take in every stray that came to her door.     

Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Theresa Searcy.  Survivors include her daughter, Glenna Morgan of Norwood, son, Edward “Eddie” Redmond (Patti) of Norwood, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   

A private memorial gathering with family is planned at a later date.
