Claude "Bill" and Joyce Jackson Obituary

Alpharetta, GA -  Memorial services for Mr. Claude William “Bill” Jackson, Jr. and Mrs. Annie Joyce Jackson who died March 27, 2019 and November 28, 2016 respectfully will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 13, 2019 at the Rock Mill United Methodist Church in Jewell, GA with family friend Ulmeria Williams officiating.

Mr. Bill, a native of Hancock County, GA the only child to the late Florence and Claude William Jackson, Sr. His dad was a farmer and later became a Game Warden.  His mom was a housewife and worked during WW II at a plant producing weapons for our military.  After high school, Bill worked at Lockheed and Western Electric while attending night school receiving degrees from Southern Tech and Jacksonville University. To see his girlfriend, Joyce, he hitch-hiked from Atlanta to Macon on weekends.  She was with friends in front of a strip shopping center in Macon one Friday night and Bill was driving the strip looking for someone to meet just like the movie “American Graffiti”. In 1958 he married the love of his life, Annie “Joyce” Moon.

Later,  Mr. Bill worked for the Department of Defense allowing him to travel to various countries.  He spent two years in Rota, Spain and was stationed at various military bases. In addition, Bill worked with NASA during the time that man first walked on the moon.   He later became interested in real estate and got his Brokers License. Mr. Bill will be remembered as a devoted Son,  Husband,  Father and Grandfather  and for his compassion and generosity for others.

Miss Joyce, a native of Griffin, GA the daughter of the late Alice and William Moon. Alice was a homemaker and her father worked for the Railroad. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Smarr and a brother, William Moon, Jr. In earlier years she worked numerous jobs following Bill from base to base as the military transferred him. A homemaker in later years she was always totally devoted to her husband, daughter, and grandson. She will be remembered for her contiguous smile and generosity who always went out of her way to help others and for her love of gardening and flowers.

Survivors include their daughter, Cheryl Ann DuBose and a grandson Kevin Michael DuBose.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Mrs. Joyce and the Parkinson’s Foundation in memory of Mr. Bill.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
