Ms. Barbara Annette Purvis Hobbs, age 80, daughter to the late Mr. & Mrs. O.E. “Pete” Purvis, entered into rest Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Thomson Health & Rehabilitation.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Hobbs was a native of Warren County, GA. After working several years with civil service at Fort Gordon, Ms. Hobbs made the decision to leave her job to take care of her family and become a homemaker. In addition, she also served the citizens of Warren County as a poll worker working for many years with the Warren County Board of Elections. Her home was her sanctuary and where she dedicated her life to taking care of her son, Brad for many years until her mind would not allow her to. She was a genuine, kindhearted person who loved her family and most importantly loved her Lord and Savior. While her presence here on earth will be missed, we have no doubt she will be waiting for us in heaven. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Warrenton.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Hobbs (Jonathan) Thigpen of Wrens, GA; two grandsons, Reagan (Laura) Thigpen, and Tyler Thigpen; one sister, Carolyn Smith of Mesena, GA; two brothers, Ronnie Purvis of Wrens, GA and Joey (Cindy) Purvis of Thomson, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hobbs was preceded in death by a son, Bradley Clifton “Brad” Hobbs.
Pallbearers will be Brent Purvis, Chris McGahee, Sammy Purvis, Wright Perdue, Jamie Smith and Wally Thigpen.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening, September 30, 2025, at Lowe Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Mt. Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund C/O Ms. Kay Langham P.O. Box 217 Thomson, GA 30824.
The entire family is very thankful to Allay Hospice and Thomson Health & Rehabilitation Center and especially to Ms. Darlene Grant and Ms. Mary Wiley. The constant care that was given to Ms. Hobbs and the love and compassion that was shown to her and the family will forever be appreciated.
