Alton Eugene (Gene) Adkins

Warrenton, GA - Mr. Alton Eugene "Gene" Adkins age 84, beloved husband of 65 years to Mrs. Ann Adkins entered into rest Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Jewell Baptist Church with the Revs. Ralph Story, David Miller and Frank Thigpen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Adkins a native and lifelong resident of Warren County, GA was the son of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Gay Cato Adkins and Mr. Sherron Lee Adkins.  Mr. Gene was a farmer and retired owner of Adkins Store.  In addition, he served his country in the U.S. National Guard Sparta Camp and a welder with Martin Marietta Aggregates (Western Brooker) and a member of the Warren County Farm Bureau and Jewell Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Ann Elder Adkins; one daughter, Angela Adkins (Wally) Davis of Dearing, GA; two sons, Steve (Alison) Adkins of Washington, DC, and Jeff (Suzi) Adkins of Warrenton, GA; one sister, Lib Beasley of Thomson, GA; one brother, Mike Adkins of Mesena, GA; 5 grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Davis, Justin (Ashton) Adkins, Ansley Adkins, Jewell Adkins, and Alden Adkins; 3 great grandchildren, Maddie Davis, Marlie Davis, and Aria Adkins.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Adkins Story and two brothers, Billy Adkins and Leon Adkins.

Pallbearers will be John Chapman, Mark Gray, Tony Newsome, Alden Adkins, Matthew Davis, and Justin Adkins.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care provided to Mr. Adkins by Gibson Health & Rehab and Regency Hospice.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 P.M. till the hour of service at Jewell Baptist Church.
