Aaron Nickles Obituary

Mr. Aaron Paul Nickles

Thomson, GA – Mr. Aaron Paul Nickles, age 62, entered into rest on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at his residence.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Richardson officiating. A second service will be held in Kentucky at Hindman Funeral Home, 11:00 AM Sunday, June 29th, 2025, for family and friends.

Mr. Nickles was a native of Kentucky but had made his home in Thomson for many years. He was the son of the late Paul Nickles and Florene Mullins Nickles. Aaron was an over-the-road truck driver who spent more than three decades behind the wheel, logging countless miles with steady hands and a steadfast heart. Whether hauling freight through stormy nights or watching the sunrise from a quiet rest stop, he found pride and purpose in every journey. Known for his grit, generosity, and stories that could fill a logbook, Aaron was more than a driver — he was a road warrior, a mentor, and a friend to many.

Each time he left for the road, he’d tell Chelcie, “I do my best, and the good Lord does the rest.”

He was a member of Second Chance Independent Church, a NASCAR fan, and above all, a man who treasured time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.

Mr. Nickles leaves behind to cherish his memory: his beloved wife of 31 years, Chelcie A. Nickles of Thomson; two daughters, Ladonna Nickles of Hindman, KY, and Felicia Herald (Calvin) of Hazard, KY; a son, Willis Herald of Hazard, KY; two brothers, Rhonald “Julio” Nickles (Pam) of Thomson, and Adrian Nickles of Pinetop, KY; five grandchildren, Jaden Feltner, Mason Johnson, Geneda Stidham, Kinsley Herald, and Calvin Stidham Jr.; one great-grandchild, Jaden Feltner Jr.; two aunts, Vivian Nickles and special friend Joyce Napier, and Lorene Sloan, all of Kentucky; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends; and his “Ride or Die,” Trucker Joe “T.J.”

Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Florene Mullins Nickles, and his grandparents, Silas and Lottie Nickles.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Ronald McDonald House Charities.
