Pierce Roberts English, 91, died at his residence outside of town on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. A descendant of Matthew English who came from Virginia to Wilkes County, Georgia in 1786, Pierce was born in Richmond County, Georgia to the late Willie Pierce English and Susie Roberts English of Jones County on April 20, 1932.

He was married to Julia Gill English on March 20, 1958, in Meriwether County, Georgia. Mr English was a graduate of Warren County High School and The University of Georgia. He served four years in the United State Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Warrenton, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, various agricultural organizations and Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a lifetime farmer, a commodities broker and one of the founders of Briarwood Academy.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons - Pierce Otis (Pete) and his wife Wendy; Capel Calhoun English and his wife Karen; Austin Gill English and his wife Connie; five grandchildren - Corey English Viglotti and her husband Mark; Clare English Short and her husband Spain; Emmaline English; Pierce Roberts English II; Katherine Ellen English - and one great-grandson, Mark Patrick Viglotti, Jr.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 2:00 pm EST at Lowe's Funeral Home in Warrenton, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Methodist Church of Warrenton, Georgia.
