Judy Lee Sykes

Gibson, Glascock County – Ms. Judy Lee Sykes, age 83, was called home to Heaven on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, where she ran into the arms of Jesus for eternity.  She was the cherished daughter of the late Dale & Bernice Roarabaugh.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Lowe Funeral home, 77 W. Gibson St., Warrenton, GA

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 3:00pm at West Acres Baptist Church, 555 Gibbs Road, Evans, GA 30809, with visitation following the service. Feel free to wear bright colors as a reflection of Judy's bubbly and colorful personality.

Born on October 18, 1942, in Poughkeepsie, New York, Judy grew up in a large loving family and graduated in 1960 from Central High school in Wappingers Fall, NY. She married Rick who joined the Navy and they went on to have 4 girls and live in multiple states across the country before coming to Georgia. Once settled in Thomson, she was well known for managing the local Dairy Queen. She worked various jobs until she discovered her true calling, real estate. Judy devoted more than 40 years to helping families find their dream homes, serving with multiple agencies and earning a reputation for honesty, dedication, and genuine care for her clients.

Ms. Sykes was a member of West Acres Baptist Church in Evans, Georgia before her battle with Alzheimer's began. She loved attending services and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her faith was steady, joyful & evident in the way she served & treated others.

Judy had a passion for her family, gardening, reading, watching hummingbirds, baking and her cat, Sarah.   And if you ever challenged her to a game of Scrabble, you likely walked away humbled.

She is survived by her loving and devoted daughters and sons‑in‑law: Vikki Livengood & husband Bobby of Ruffin, NC; Donna Wizemann & Don Gunby of Thomson; Debbie Kitchens of Warrenton; Lara Fort & husband Kevin of Evans. She is also survived by her sisters, Ronda Folk & husband Matt of Six Mile Run, PA , & Tina Breier & husband Randy of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren: Christopher Anderson, Kyle Livengood & wife Brittney, Cody Livengood & wife LeAnn, Tucker Livengood & fiancé Ashley, Dylan Livengood & girlfriend Clarke, Corey Wizemann & wife Taylor, Caleb Kitchens, States Fort & wife Joselyn, Cade Fort, & Preslee Fort; eighteen great‑grandchildren; two great‑great‑grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and former spouse Rick Sykes of Martinez, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Bob Roarabaugh & wife Edna, & JoEllen Irwin.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care given to Ms. Sykes during her illness, to Trinity Hospice, Bristol Hospice, Regency Hospice, the caregivers at Mt. Pleasant Alternative care home, the dedicated amazing staff of Gibson Health and Rehabilitation, and to Kathy Mae Smith, her wonderful roommate who lovingly watched over her when family could not be present.

The family will inter Ms. Sykes at a later date beside her parents in Six Mile Run, Pennsylvania.
