Mitchell, GA- Mr. Harlen Mercer Smith, "Smitty", beloved husband of 51 years to Mrs. Evelyn Smith, died Monday May 29, 2017 at University Hospital Augusta.

Mr. Smith was the son of the late Claude and Dollie Mercer Smith. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Warrenton. Mr. Smith was a retired lineman with General Telephone after 30 years of service and a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Along with his wife Mr. Smith is survived by his son Richard Smith (JoAnn), Lakeland, FL, and his three daughters Marlene Fletcher (Terry), Lakeland, FL, Robbie Staub, Mitchell, GA , and Sally Brock (Everett), McMinnville, TN., four Grandchildren and six Great-Grandchildren. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 – 11:00 A.M. Thursday in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church Warrenton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday June 1, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church Warrenton with the Rev.'s Sandra Leightner and Ted Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Plant City Florida at a later date.
