Robert Fulton Thigpen, Sr.

Norwood, Georgia – Mr. Robert Fulton Thigpen, Sr., age 100, beloved husband of Mrs. Annette Poss Thigpen, entered into rest on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Thomson Health and Rehab. A remarkable man whose life spanned a century, Fulton leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, hard work, and unforgettable stories.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Methodist Church with Mr. Jimmy Waller officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born on October 5, 1925, in Warren County, Fulton was the son of the late Glemon Thigpen and Evelyn Brown Thigpen. A devoted husband, father, and friend, he lived a life rooted in community and purpose. He retired as the business owner of Warrenton Mini Mart, where he greeted neighbors with the same kindness and steadiness that defined every part of his life.

Fulton was a faithful member of Macedonia Methodist Church, serving his church with a quiet dedication that spoke louder than words. When he wasn't working or worshipping, he could be found outdoors, tending his farm, caring for his horses, or simply enjoying the beauty of God's creation. He loved the land, the animals, and the peace that came with a life lived close to nature.

A man of many talents and interests, Fulton was well known throughout the community for calling square dances, bringing joy and laughter to gatherings across the county. He proudly participated in the Dahlonega Wagon Train of 1975, helping carry gold to the Georgia State Capitol for the creation of the iconic Gold Dome. In 1969, he was elected Constable of Warren County, serving with integrity and respect. He was also a founding member of the Bartram Trail Horse Club, where he formed lifelong friendships.

Fulton loved to travel, and his family fondly remembers his spontaneous adventures, often beginning at 2 or 3 in the morning with the simple instruction to "pack a bag." With Fulton behind the wheel, you never knew where you might end up, but you always knew it would be an adventure worth remembering.

He is survived by his loving wife, Annette Poss Thigpen of Thomson; daughter, Vickie Glass of Thomson; two sons, Lewis Thigpen (Jean) and Bobby Thigpen (Janice), both of Warrenton; brother, Gene Thigpen (Barbara) of Harlem; eight grandchildren; fourteen great‑grandchildren; one great‑great‑grandchild; and a host of extended family and friends whom Fulton cherished deeply.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kathryn Hebert and Anne Daily; grandson, Brad Thigpen; and son, Danny Harrison.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons Michael Thigpen, Matthew Thigpen, Macy Thigpen, Trey Thigpen, Beau Thigpen, Scotty Glass, Sawyer Thigpen and close friend Reese McDaniel.
