Gibson-Glascock County - Mr. Dennis "Denny" Wayne Reese, age 65, beloved widower of Mrs. Janice Elaine Whited Reese, entered into rest on Thursday, August 20, 2026. A man known for his easygoing nature, deep loyalty, and love of the outdoors, Denny left a lasting mark on everyone blessed to know him.

Born in Wilkes County to Mrs. Elvie Johnson Reese and the late Mr. Charles Willis Reese, Denny grew up in Thomson where he graduated with the Thomson High School Class of 1980. From a young age he carried the values of small‑town Georgia, hard work, humility, and a genuine respect for people. Over the years he worked with Shaw Industries, Thomson Decorating, and Culpepper Lumber Company, but for the past three decades Denny found his calling on the open road as a local and long‑haul truck driver. Driving became more than a job; it was a way of life he took pride in, and he was known for his dependability, steady temperament, and the miles of stories he collected along the way.

More than 20 years ago, Denny made Gibson his home, settling into the quiet rhythm of the community he came to love. In his later years he attended both Second Chance Independent Church and Mitchell Full Gospel, where he enjoyed fellowship and spiritual encouragement.

When Denny wasn't working, he was outside, plain and simple. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, and coon hunter, happiest with a rifle in hand or a rod in the water. His yearly trips to Santee Cooper were a highlight he looked forward to, filled with laughter, good company, and the kind of memories only made on the water. At home, he enjoyed leisurely rides around the neighborhood on his golf cart, stopping to visit friends, admire the woods, and take in the peacefulness of rural life.

Denny loved music, concerts, and especially Hank Williams, Jr. Many said he lived exactly as the song describes, a true "Simple Man" who valued the things that mattered: family, friends, honest work, and the great outdoors.

He is survived by his devoted mother, Mrs. Elvie Johnson Reese of Warrenton; his brother, Mr. Danny Lee Reese and wife Stephanie of Warrenton; sister‑in‑law, Mrs. Wanda Howard Reese of Thomson; nieces Vicky Reese and John Lagrone of Warrenton, and Laura Reese Tabor and husband Casey of Dearing; nephew Charles Randall Reese of Gibson; great‑niece and nephews Faith Reese, Wyatt Lagrone, Mason Reese, Tyler Tabor, and Tripp Tabor; aunt Belva Wilkerson Reese of Augusta; uncle Bobby Reese and wife Belinda of Columbus; cousins Jimmy Johnson of Sparta, Barry Reese and wife Mary of Lincolnton, and Jan Reese Martin and husband Chris of Fernandina Beach, Florida; along with a host of friends, neighbors, and hunting buddies who will forever cherish his memory.

Denny was preceded in death by his father; his wife; his brother, Rev. Charles Edward Reese; nephew D.J. Reese; and uncles Larry Reese and Eldridge Johnson.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Denny's life will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kyle Downs officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Billy Anderson, Danny Jones, Mike Jones, Rupert Latray, Brian Brabham and Wesley Clark.
