WARRENTON, GA - Mr. James W. Raley, age 80, beloved husband of 60 years to Mrs. Mildred W. Raley of Brown Circle died Friday, January 25, 2013 at University Hospital – Augusta.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 28, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Warrenton with the Rev. Mike Dann officiating. Burial will follow in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Raley, a native and lifelong resident of Warren County was the son of the late James L. and Nell J. Raley. He was retired from Georgia Power with 37 years of service and was self employed in the appliance repair and electrical business. Mr. Raley was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Warrenton for over 50 years and served as a deacon. In addition, he was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers.
Additional survivors include his son, Jimmy Raley of Warrenton, GA, his daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Jim Gabriel of Winterville, GA, two grandchildren, Brett (Ashley) Gabriel and Jessica Gabriel, two great grandchildren, Gavin and Brogen and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Raley was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys R. Askew.
Pallbearers will be Jim McMichael, Palmer Hadden, Willard Askew, Reggie Garner, Pete Bales, Sonny Pierce, Ronnie Abbott, and Dan Crumpton.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Warrenton.
Friends may call at the residence.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening at Lowe Funeral Home.
